My sister and I took our 89 year old Dad and my 10 yr old daughter out last week and the experience was fantastic. I can’t say enough about how helpful Dan and Danny were. They went out of their way to engage with my daughter which made her feel very comfortable. Danny, our deckhand is worth every dollar he earns, so switched on helping and troubleshooting every customer on board, and so polite and respectful.
Would definitely recommend.
If you are looking for a fishing trip use Cairns Reef Fishing!! Great experience for anyone who loves fishing or for newbies. Great staff and service all day! I’ve been 4 times already and will be going again!
We had an amazing day, caught heaps of fish with the best crew! Thanks dan & Ben! Would definitely go out again next time we’re in town!!
This is my 4th trip with Cairns Reef Fishing. I have a great time every time I go. I wouldn’t even consider looking for another charter company. The staff are always friendly, very knowledgeable and cater for everyone’s needs. Overall experience is always 10 out of 10. Cheers
Great time, staff was excellent and extremely helpful. Plenty of different varieties of fish to be caught. Great way to spend the day fishing.
These guys were very flexible as I had to change my plans and they ensured that I got out there with my son for his 18th. The crew were amazing. They put us on the fish every time. Its clear they love what they do! I highly recommend these guys for your Reef fishing experience. I’ll be bringing my wife back!
I also highly recommend taking your catch to Salt House. $30 per head for the most amazing 2 course meal with our fish.
Being a Cairns local I have done a number of charters over the years but this was my first time with this company and I will be back, they were great.
Our captain and Deckie, Rob and Trent, were professional, informative friendly helpful and attentive. If you don’t catch a fish it’s not their fault cause they try hard to make sure you do,
Our boat had 12 fisher people and there was plenty of room for fishing.
Lunch was rolls and you were able to decide what you wanted with salad and meats aplenty to choose from. Morning tea was nice cake and the afternoon tea of fruit was a great choice at the end of the day. Water is provided along with tea and coffee and you can by soft drink or beer at very reasonable prices.
For tourists they had some good suggestions on where to get your fish cooked or how to get you fish filletted, cryo vacced and home.
My second experience Fishing with the crew at Cairns Reef Fishing and had a great time. Booking and check in was friendly and smooth, I went out on one of their boats Aquacat, which had had a major renovation since my last trip and I was really impressed with what Nick had done. The boat looks fantastic. There was 12 of us aboard and there was plenty of room ,and fish ! ,for all. Nick and young Danny worked hard and provided plenty of laughs during the day. Lunch was delicious and plentiful. All in all a great day again, thanks guys I’ll be back.
Spent the day with cairns reef fishing with fishing guides Dan and Trent, the could not do anymore to make our day one to remember. Very professional and helpful, this is our second time fishing with Cairns reef fishing we travel up from Melbourne every year and wouldn’t waste my time with any other charters ,when you’re on a good thing stick with it. Dan motored around to get us on the fish and Trent is one of the hardest working deckies I’ve ever fished with.
Thanks guys for a pleasant and memorable day. See you next year.
I’ve been on charter boats all over the world. These guys are up there with the best. They work tirelessly to find fish and their client service is outstanding.
This is why I keep coming back year after year.
Thanks to all the Guys at Cairns reef fishing . Have been out a few times with them and every time have had a ball. I’ll definitely be back. Thanks again 👍👍🍻
Organised a boat for a bucks weekend activity. It was a great day, the crew were fantastically accommodating. Everyone loved it and I would absolutely recommend this to everyone, suitable for everyone!
Cant recommend this enough. The crew were fantastic. Great use of the time for fishing. Caught a few quality fish and did battle with a big shark who wanted and got a free feed of my fish. Excellent food and drink spread. Thanks guys for the great experience.
We spent a day fishing with these guys on a recent trip to Cairns. Our friends have fished with them before, so they came highly recommended & didn’t disappoint! Our captain Rob & deckhand Danny were very professional & great fun! Rob kept us on the action & Danny was great not only as our deckie but at pointing out landmarks on our trip home. We took our own beers with us for the day, but there was plenty of water available & beer & soft drink to purchase. There was plenty of yummy food available throughout the day. We kept enough fish to feed us & cooked it up back at our apartment. We had a great fun day & would definitely fish with them again.
Cairns Reef Fishing gave me the best days fishing I have ever had!
A prompt push off from dock D and a cup of coffee and it was out to the reef 25 nautical miles south of Cairns. A great intro and safety check from Captain Rob (great hair) a cool crew, who were always there when you needed them!
Choppy 1m swell all the way out made for bumpy trip out, I was told it was a calm day though, so I sat in the 10-20% state of sea sickness, but the boat is a beast, big enough to flatten out the bumps.
After 1 hour 45 we were on our first spot, within a minute we were hooking onto GT, Coral Trout and Nannygai. I caught the biggest fish I have ever caught, but they were still undersize, so back they went.
Rob moved us a round a bit if he thought the fish were off the boil, which was much appreciated, too often skippers stay on the one spot as they get lazy and wait for fish to swim through.
Lunch was amazing, rolls with 4 choices of meat, salad and lots of extras, drinks available on board at very reasonable prices (beer and softies)
Everyone caught a good sized fish, one gentleman (gorge?) caught a nice Spanish Mackerel and there were even a few nice GT’s in the mix, as well as the prized Coral Trout (very nice on the BBQ Thursday night)
Did I mention the Whales breaching past the reef as well, talk about entertainment!
This is a five star experience with a great crew and lots of room to move, brilliant food and a charter that I will definitely do again when up in Cairns
Cost was $260 – best money spent for the week!
Booked the day before, as a complete novice I was worried this would impact on my day. I shouldn’t have worried, our crew were brilliant, in every way they were really helpful and relaxed. I would go again in a heart beat, see you again maybe next year
Loved every second of it. Went out with Skipper Dan and Decky Deano. Both worked hard to put us on to the fish each trip. If the fish weren’t biting we quickly moved spots until they were. Caught some great fish – Highly recommended!
#1 best trip to spend your money on in Cairns!!
Dan & Dean are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to answer any questions and assist people who may not have that much experience fishing. They took us to some great spots, we had a delicious lunch, lots of laughs, and everybody caught multiple fish.
We even spotted some whales.
Can’t rate them enough!
I better wrap it up now though, I’ve got a fridge full of fish that aren’t going to eat themselves!…
11 Clients and 3 days of charters with both boats Blue Whaler and Aqua Cat as a reward for business. Could not have been a better experience, All crew were easy to deal with, attentive and we actually caught fish. Rob and Dan were able to put us onto some great action even in some pretty rough conditions and our deckhands were superb in their experience, especially Deano who went above and beyond his normal duties for the group.
Nice work to Nick and everyone involved at Cairns Reef Fishing , the experience of a lifetime for the first timers to the seasoned fisho’s.
Skipper Rob and Jason the decky went out of their way to ensure that everyone on board had a brilliant day. The lads kept pulling anchor until feeding fish were bending rods and testing young and old. Having fished Cairns for nearly 21 years I was stoked to have my first lemon shark brought on board for a quick couple of photos before being released. Equally pleasing was the effort the boys put in to helping a young girl fishing with her Dad to reel in a mammoth Chinaman Fish (Bleeker) before it was released. The fish was almost 2/3 her size. Plenty of great table fish (Coral trout , Nannygai, Spangled Emperor and Spanish Mackerel) were also caught and taken home. There was also plenty of tasty food for those who had time to eat. Thank you Bjorn P.
I went out on the 12th fishing with Rob and Deano. After a quick stop to pick a couple up from Fitzroy Is. Rob put us straight onto some nice big mouth nannies and then a quick move for some small mouths and a few coral trout. A couple of the other guests were getting bites but couldn’t land anything and Deano and Rob were straight onto it making sure everyone took home fish, it was a nice touch. Thanks Nick. Top Day with Top Crew.
My young fella (13) and I visited Cairns for the weekend from Darwin to do some fishing and have some fun. Cairns Reef Fishing is a good and safe operation. Walk on, all gear and food provided, and walk off with a bag of fish. We ventured out on the Aqua Cat, and true to their word they keep the charter numbers down so it is a comfortable experience. There is heaps of room on board to move about and fish. The crew, Nick (skipper) and Jason (decky) were very friendly, accommodating and have a good sense of humour. They are skilled and knowledgeable at what they do and you are in good hands with them. Coffee / tea and snacks are provided when you board and lunch was rolls with a selection of cold meats, salads and condiments. In the afternoon a selection of fruit is offered. Fresh cold water provided as well. My son had enough to eat and that says a lot! It’s BYO but they also have soft drinks and beer available for purchase at good prices. As for the fishing no one was left disappointed. We visited a few spots where different species were targeted, and plenty of fish were bought on board. My young bloke had a blast and bought in a coral trout, spangled emperor and long nosed emperor. We cooked the coral trout for dinner that night; it was delicious! Communication was really good. I would recommend to book in advance to avoid disappointment; the online booking is easy and I received a call the day before to confirm. The only disappointing thing was the time on the water went too fast. If you visit Cairns I highly recommend this operation to you. It is value for money. It is professional and safe. It is really enjoyable and a great way to see the waters around Cairns and have a fish.
Our club did five days fishing straight, cannot speak highly enough about the professionalism of Rob (skipper) and Jason (decky) who put us right on the fish every day. We even targeted specific species, all were caught. Management exceed our expectations to make the trip a one in a life time experience. These guys are the real deal for great fishing and will not disappoint. We will be back! From the president of Stiff Rods Down Unda.
My brother and I spent a memorable day with Cairns Reef Fishing last Friday, 5-7-17. The day began at 6:30 with a friendly greeting and offer of coffee and cake. The crew’s approach to safety precautions was focused and explanation of the days events was clear and informative. The trip to the reef was swift, with enough time to take in the sight of a passing whale (whale watching at no extra cost). Our first drop yielded a number of small fish to get us warmed up, however Dave and Jason, skipper and deck-hand, were not satisfied with the spot and quickly moved us on. From then on it was action a plenty with a variety of large fish being hauled in. All day the boys were busy ensuring rigs were up to scratch, rectifying the odd tangle as well as dehooking fish and offering photo opportunities. They were conscious of the number of fish caught in one spot and moved us on to ensure not too much was taken. Each location brought up a rage of species with everyone on board landing some large quality fish. Refreshments and lunch was a welcomed and delicious extra and there was more than enough for everyone. There were quite a few fish released back to the depths and it was a focus for the crew to ensure they were in the best of condition upon their return. On our return back to Cairns, we were informed of local restaurants that will cook up our catch. We took up Jason’s offer to fillet our large catch at a very reasonable rate, and had a number of fillets beautifully cooked up by Michael at the North Bar and Kitchen in the Shangri-La. Our day with Cairns Reef Fishing was such a wonderful experience and nothing was too much trouble. I highly recommend this company to anyone from begginers to experienced fishos. You would be hard pressed to find any other charter to match their friendly and approachable staff, comfortable and well equipped vessel and professional attitude towards creating a successful day for their customers. Top effort Cairns Reef Fishing and l will definitely be organising another trip in 2018 as well as letting others know of your excellent services.
We are a family of four (with 2 x teenagers) and had booked the day with Cairns Reef Fishing (27/06/17). From the early start at 6.30 am down at the Marina the team looked after us with professionalism, courtesy and humor all day until our return at 3.30 pm. There were 12 of us fishing on the boat and this is where Dan (the skipper) and Jason’s (the decky) experience, knowledge and patience paid off. The odd tangle was dealt with quickly and effortlessly. We targeted known fishing spots, and at each spot Dave briefed us all on what we could expect to catch. We tried each spot until the bites dried up and then we moved swiftly onto the next spot. Jason was terrific at assisting each angler land their fish, and each fish was quickly identified, measured and if above legal size offered to the angler as a keeper. Smaller fish and those that were not keepers were quickly released back into the sea to fight another day. It was a glorious sunny day with a light swell. A very welcome & plentiful “self service” cold lunch was prepared on board. On our return to Cairns, we were given advice on recipe options for the fish or the recommendation to take our catch to “The Salt House” restaurant where the chefs prepare & cook your catch in different ways to tempt the palate. It was a wonderful day out for our family and we would certainly recommend the Cairns Reef Fishing team to look after you for the day if you’re considering a fishing charter out of Cairns.
Amazing fish, amazing crew, amazing day! We visited lots of different fishing spots and caught more than enough fish. The crew had a lot of patience with me because I had no idea how to fish but still managed to catch heaps. My partner who is an experienced fisherman reckons it’s one of the best fishing charters he’s been on.
This was, hands down, the highlight of our holiday. Despite a few early showers (and someone slipping a banana on board), we managed to pull in a variety of big fish and had an absolute blast doing it. The guys were helpful, totally hilarious and knowledgeable. Lunch was awesome, the guys were brilliant and the fishing was spot on. We’ll be back and would encourage anyone considering a day out fishing on the reef to go out with the boys from Cairns Reef Fishing. Thanks for the best day. Five stars!!!
My wife and i joined this fishing tour as our honeymoon, it is really amazing and wonderful. Jason and Daniel are really helpful and willing to teach us how to fishing. Under their help, we can get two big fish on that day as a junior player. Of course other experienced guys get lots of big fish and all of us have fun so much!! I will definitely recommend this tour to all of my friends!! Jason TO from Hong Kong
